Author John Rosamond's latest book signing on 29th November 2010 of Save the Triumph Bonneville! The Inside Story of the Meriden Workers' Co-op. This was at the request of one of the owners of Meriden Motorcycles - John Hallard (aka The Meriden Co-op Wheelie King). The signed book will be presented to the proud new owner of this Triumph 750cc Silver Jubilee produced by Meriden Co-op and fabulously restored by Meriden Motorcycles - one more bike and one more book sale!

To celebrate �British Pubs Week� author John Rosamond held his latest book signing of Save the Triumph Bonneville - The Inside Story of the Meriden Workers' Co-op on 3rd November at the canal side pub �The Cape of Good Hope�. Situated in Lower Cape Warwick, publicans Sandra and Mick Barfoot provide hospitality second to none. This picturesque pub has particular relevance in the history of the Triumph Motorcycle Company as it was here that workers from the temporary Warwick factory relaxed after long hard shifts during the Second World War when the Coventry Priory Street Triumph factory was destroyed by the Luftwaffe in The Blitz of 14th November 1940. A temporary operation was set up in a former foundry building in Cape Road Warwick. The foundry's most eye catching feature was a corrugated iron structure that resembled a church complete with bell tower and was known as the �Tin Tabernacle�. This temporary facility equipped with tooling rescued from the Priory Street rubble became Triumph's home for about 2 years whilst a new �shadow� factory was built on green belt land at Meriden north west of Coventry.

TR2, 3, 3A, 4 & 4A RESTORATION - IT'S ALL HERE!

"From selecting your first TR right through to what you thought of your restoration � it�s all here in this 210-page manual on restoring the four-cylinder TR sports cars. Perhaps you are buying your first early TR? This book gets right into what to look for. There are many photos of very rusty examples and as you read through you will become familiar with where those main rust spots are in the chassis and body. It also tells you what to look for in the mechanicals of the car � especially the renowned wet sleeve engine, gearbox, overdrive and suspension.
What comes first with any restoration? Preparation of course, and that includes dismantling and a plan that includes where the parts will come from and who will do the work. Now it�s time to roll your sleeves up and get dirty. First comes the bodywork and where the pitfalls are with the two differing body styles. What about chassis restoration, especially the independent rear suspension of the TR4A? It�s all there, of course. The early TR engine is interesting, being wet sleeve � never having to bore out the cylinders would have to be a plus. But just how do you insert the new sleeves? They all used basically the same gearbox. Brakes and suspensions are included in detail and it does recommend upgrading the TR2�s front drums to discs as fitted to later models.
However, it�s not all dirty-hands stuff as detail is provided on the correct trimming of all models. Interestingly, there are separate chapters on fitting hoods to both the early and later TRs. As with all publications in the �Enthusiast�s Restoration Manual� series this publication is easy to read and full of highly useful colour photos."

TOMCC MEMBERS DISCUSS BONNEVILLE BOOK
The Peterborough TOMCC Branch Meriden Co-op Forum and Save the Triumph Bonneville book signing by John Rosamond took place at The Talbot Inn - Shilton - Peterborough. Nigel Strong organised the event and Mick Barratt chaired the Forum. The pre-publicity in the magazine Nacelle ensured that many TOMCC members taking part were from other branches. JOHN ROSAMOND MEETS HIS READERS
John Rosamond (author of Save the Triumph Bonneville! � The inside story of the Meriden Workers� Co-op) has been out and about answering questions raised by the book at specially organised forums around the UK.
The first of these forums took place at the Manchester Branch of the TOMCC. Well organised by the Hon Secretary David Porter at the club's regular meeting place "The Arden Arms" in Stockport; over 30 enthusiastic branch members attended, taking part in a very lively "Q and A" session lasting over 2 hours. Sales of signed copies of the book took place at the end of the forum.

John recently received a letter from Patrick McAndrew (an airline pilot) a very satisfied customer. He had read the book twice and wished to have it signed. He and his friend Mike, also an airline pilot asked John if he would meet them at the National Motorcycle Museum for the book signing.

TRIUMPH CELEBRATES 20 YEARS WITH A FESTIVAL AT MALLORY PARK
September 18th 2010 is one date that Triumph fans and all motorcycle enthusiasts need to put in their diaries, as the British manufacturer will be putting on an unmissable festival to celebrate 20 years since the successful re-launch of this iconic brand. Riders of all marques are invited to enjoy a packed day of entertainment at the Mallory Park race circuit in Leicestershire, with additional activities scheduled to take place at Triumph�s state of the art manufacturing facility nearby in Hinckley.
A full programme of on and off track activities will be laid on, with on track activities including a round of the �Triumph Triple Challenge�, special invitation races featuring Triumph�s class-leading Street Triple and Daytona 675 motorcycles, plus mind blowing shows from Triumph�s professional stunt riders.
Off-track, visitors will be able to view the latest range of Triumph motorcycles, together with a selection of some of the UK�s best customised Triumphs. Key bikes from Triumph�s history will also be on display, as part of a unique exhibition exploring 20 years of Hinckley. On top of this, there will be a host of opportunities for visitors to ride the latest line up of bikes from Triumph�s demonstration fleet, both on and off track, along with many other riding activities for visitors to enjoy.
Those looking to kit themselves out with top quality riding apparel will be in for a treat at the Triumph Clothing and Accessories Megastore, where there will be a host of bargains waiting to be snapped up, plus a first chance to purchase items from the 2010 Autumn/Winter clothing collection.
Triumph�s state-of-the-art factory, situated eight miles from Mallory Park, will be open for event visitors to take a tour of the fascinating facility where Triumph�s motorcycles are made. The company has also promised a few exclusive surprises for fans making the trip to this special event and the party will carry on late into the night, with a full programme of live music planned.
