HONDA � A �WORK OF ART� AT SELFRIDGES

Honda�s legendary Fireblade has now topped the scales as �a work of art� and can be seen like never before in a unique �suspended� window display in the world famous Selfridges department store on Oxford Street in London.

The artist inspired window display features a sleek, black and white Honda Fireblade suspended from one side of a set of scales, with a fully disassembled Fireblade balancing these out with its hundreds of parts hanging individually on wires of varying lengths.

The display occupies the prestigious double aspect Wonder Room feature windows, on the corner of Oxford Street and Orchard Street, and is the focal point of a wider five window artistic display by up and coming young artist, Kyle Bean. The display theme is �The Conservation of Mass�, with the displays cleverly and innovatively highlighting how matter cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed.

This truly eye-catching and inspiring display certainly turned heads and attracted crowds outside the windows as the team undertook a daytime �live installation�, as the Selfridges windows are viewed by over 125,000 different people each day.

The artist won a competitive pitch process for the window display at Selfridges, which has recently been voted the world�s best department store and attracts over 20 million visitors each year. Kyle�s vision for the largest of his five window display was for an object that was minimalistic but had bold presence, would create intrigue by being in an environment out of its context, as well as being something that in its own form was stylish and compact, yet made up of an intricate connection of many parts � and a motorcycle was his obvious choice.

The Fireblade display can be seen in the Selfridges windows until the end of August, although a video of the intricate but fun build-up of the artistic display can also be viewed on the HondaUKMotorcycles channel on YouTube.

MINI COOPER S CONVERTIBLE

The new MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible are revealed this month at the Detroit Motor Show.

It includes a powered soft-top roof that allows the driver to open and close it while going up to 30 km-h.
The convertible also features an "Openometre" that records the time drivers spend travelling with the roof down.

The four-cylinder, 1.6-litre standard Mini convertible produces 118 horsepower and retails for $24,550, while the turbocharged Mini Cooper S Convertible, which delivers 172 horsepower, sells for $27,450.

The new Mini Cooper S Convertible goes on sale at the end of March.

THE FASTEST JAGUAR EVER

Jaguar today announces that during a secret speed trial at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, an XFR prototype recorded a stunning top speed of 225.675mph (363.188km/h), making it the fastest Jaguar ever.

The car � powered by the all-new AJ-V8 Gen III engine � beat Jaguar's previous speed record of 217.1mph (349.4 km/h) set in the XJ220 in 1992.* Paul Gentilozzi � the owner of Rocketsports Racing who successfully led the Jaguar XKR to five series victories between 2001 and 2006 in the Trans Am series in the USA � drove the car on the record-breaking run.

*Note: The Jaguar XJ220 � a mid-engined sports car produced by Jaguar in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing between 1992 and 1994 � held the record for the highest top speed of a production car until the arrival of the McLaren F1 in 1994.

A 1996 Jaguar XJ Executive Saloon owned by Pink Panther film star Herbert Lom (who played French Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus) will be offered for sale in the next �Classics from BCA' sale, to be held at Blackbushe on Tuesday, 22 July.

The �Classics from BCA' sale will also include around fifty other interesting and collectable vehicles on offer on the day. A few examples are 1982 SEAB Flipper II Microcar, 995 Aston Martin DB7, 1982 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL, a 1990 BMW 316i Automatic and a 1972 Triumph Stag.
